Starview Advanced Logistics and Planning Solutions

Executives and technologists in a variety of industries are searching for ways to automate planning, scheduling and executing important business processes. Starview has years of experience working with customers to develop automated Advanced Planning and Logistics Systems (ALPS) for event-driven environments that involve the complex interplay of equipment, scheduled, resources, routings, processes and time. Starview ALPS solutions enable business to perform the constant evaluation and optimization that spells success in the event-driven world, leading to significant operational efficiencies and savings.

Our in-depth experience helps us work with clients in a variety of industries to build ALPS systems that handle the demands of real-time distributed processing at massive scale, and that provide the centralized management and control that lead to long-term cost savings and efficiencies.  With a sophisticated system architecture built on intelligent agents and multi-functional servers, the Starview approach to ALPS is elegant and effective.

One example of a Starview ALPS system, shown above, optimizes scheduling and planning for a manufacturing facility. It consists of an Operational Factory (built on Starview Enterprise Event Servers, Remote Agents and the Enterprise Hub) and a Simulated Factory (using the Starview Simulation Server). The Operational Factory acquires data from factory data sources and makes real-time logistics routing (dispatch) decisions.

The Simulated Factory serves as the test bed for planners and operations personnel. It is initialized from the current factory state, a previous factory state or a user-authored .csv file, and runs multiple schedule scenarios (different policies, different factory loading). The same approach can be used for a variety of situations including the management of material, services, information, transportation and capital flows.
