Starview Remote Agents

Starview Event Servers can be configured in a number of ways, depending on the requirements of the application. One common configuration is as Remote Agents: lightweight event servers that push processing to the very edge of the network. They pre-analyze data close to the source, pushing only the important data across the network. This enables much richer decision-making without impacting the infrastructure.

The Remote Agents are lightweight and modular, easy to deploy, and are scalable and reusable.

Starview Remote Agents can have built-in CEP engines, for real-time event processing. They can also go beyond CEP to provide advanced capabilities including the industry-unique Analytical Event Processing (AEP) engines that collaborate and cooperate across multiple streams of data.

The AEP engine is based on “actors” – event-processing agents that listen for events, and analyze based on the entire working environment. Actors take action according to predetermined rules, in the context of the other actors. AEP engines thus perform multi-path analysis and cooperative decision-making close to the source of the event.

Starview Remote Agents can provide real-time event processing, action management, and automated problem resolution.  They take action at a local level, and can also feed pre-filtered information to the Enterprise Event Servers for centralized decision-making.

Remote Agents are especially well-suited for situations involving process optimization, quality or other aspects of the business, where massive amounts of data would otherwise need to be passed across the network for centralized decision-making. By pre-filtering data, they dramatically reduce the amount of data that must be passed over the network, improving overall decision-making without adversely impacting the infrastructure.
